Johnny English Strikes Again delivers us a new chapter of collisions and botched up situations. As a fan of slapstick, the first two films in the series have always had a special place in my heart - those along with Jump Streets, Anchormans and Horrible Bosses, Bringing Up Baby, etc.
Johnny English Strikes Again will be added to that list, as for my money, it's at least almost as good as the previous instalments.
They're obviously nothing earth shattering but they're good for what they are. Atkinson's as good as ever, Bough played by Ben Miller is back from the first film and there are also fun cameos from Michael Gambon and Charles Dance so we have a little bit of Dumbledore and Tywin Lannister in the mix as well.
Add some Atkinson dance moves, really bad fake names, and messing up with an ancient harness and you're all set. It's also fun that The Pink Panther films are referenced in the title as Mr.

In July , Johnny English principal photography commenced. The film shot for fourteen weeks, filming at Shepperton Studios , on location in London and St.
Albans , and finally setting down in Monte Carlo for two days to complete filming the final scene. The character of Johnny English himself is based on a similar character called Richard Latham, who Atkinson played in a series of British television adverts for Barclaycard.
Some of the gags from the adverts made it into the film, including English incorrectly identifying a waiter, and inadvertently shooting himself with a tranquilliser ballpoint pen.

Johnny English and his sidekick, Bough have been assigned the case of investigating the theft of the British Crown Jewels. The prime suspect is a mysterious French entrepreneur, known as Pascal Sauvage.
English and Bough soon find out the horrifying truth behind the theft and Sauvage, but it's not going to be an easy job to bring him to justice.
Written by FilmFanUK. It comes across as strained and ultimately worthless for comic effect. I despise the kind of humor that is stretched much too far to be funny.
It is so telegraphed that mid-way through the movie you can invariably anticipate exactly WHAT he is bumbling into and whatever vague humor it had is butchered.
It becomes excruciating. I would, however, enjoy seeing this turn into a screen franchise for Atkinson--IF and this is a big IF they give him a solid screenplay to work with.
The plot and characters were all fine--even Malkovich's purposefully ridiculous French accent and clearly John M. Comedy is tough to write and tougher to execute on - but Atkinson has the chops to handle it.
He just needs the right material. There were a few gem moments and enough "chuckle humor" to make this a worthy rental. Imbruglia is respectable as his female counterpart -- and none too tough on the eyes.
