Direction and screenplay- Direction was good and director succeeded in fusing correct elements required for this movie.
Screenplay was equally good but story was little used and old and this brings slightly downfall to this movie.
Srk , Nawazuddin and Mahira - Srk as usual did his role neatly. Mahira as the female lead didn't have any trouble and succeeded in bringing charm to her character.
Nawazuddin was also good but not his career best performance. Same for srk as well. These two actors had potential but the screenplay didn't allow them.
Srk i can understand but screenplay could have given nawazuddin chance to show his talent. This role looked like as if it wasn't written for him.

Story- It was bit old and it didn't have any support from director or scriptwriter to make it good. This is one of the major flaw which i found in this movie.
Duration- It was lagging and it will bore audience a lot. Makers could have trimmed it. Action scenes looked messed up at some areas Is it a must watch?
I don't recommend it as must movie because this movie may not suit all types of audience. Overall- Raees may bore some or entertain and it all depends on audience's taste.

A bootlegger sets out to improve his community as a promising leader but falls in a political trap. Raees respects and loves her mother very much and she has the biggest influence in his life.
She taught him that no work is small and there is no religion greater than work and he follows her philosophy.
After getting insulted by Jairaj Raees decides to work at his own and parts his ways from Jairaj. He goes to Mumbai where he meet Musa Bhai Narendra Kha and with his support and help he starts his own illegal business of alcohol smuggling.
Soon he becomes very famous in this illegal business and marked his presence in this business. Majumdar Nawazuddin Siddiqui an honest police officer transferred to Fatehpur, Gujarat.
And immediately he begins to raid on all the illegal alcohol dealers. But Raees has strong support and backing of Gujarat chief minister and a corrupt politician Pashabhai hence Majumdar never succeed to trace or catch Raees.
Raees also provide employment to his community women by offering them to sew cloth bag which he uses in his illegal alcohol trading.
Meanwhile, Raees get married to his sweetheart Aasiya Mahira Khan and living a happy married life. Aasiya delivered a baby boy and they name him Faizan.
Raees invites Pasha, CM and many other for celebration. CM offered Raees a project for which he has to eliminate the illegal residents from the plot.
Raees agreed to his proposal. But Majumdar smartly starts tapping Raees telephonic conversations. In the election campaign, Raees attacks Pasha.
CM tells Raees to surrender and go to jail for some time to handle the situation meanwhile Pasha and CM make their alliance when Raees comes to know about it he decides to contest election from jail.
And he wins an election. Here Majumadar again transferred to Fatehpur where communal riots started. The CM housing project considering Raees as a threat.
Hence Raees finds himself in shortage of money as he invested in a housing project, election and supplying foods during riots.
To smuggle a gold assignment Musa Bhai offered Raees a huge amount of money and meanwhile serial bomb blasts rock north India. When the police investigation is going on al the clues led the police to Raees where he smuggled the gold which contains RDX.
Hence Raees killed Musa Bhai. Here Majumdar tells his officers to arrest Raees But before police arrival he surrender himself in presence of Media as he was aware that Majumdar will kill him.
Later Majumdar takes Raees to the isolated place and kills him. Though it is the typical story of a don who smuggles things illegally and in the climax shot dead by police even after the typical story, the director and writer made it worth watching and interesting.
