The end was kind of nice. The quality of the cameras were great. I'll give the CGI a passing grade. There were some crazy funny plot holes.
I'll put some of the more amusing ones below. How the hell did the alien "rock" end up in the woods?! During the big twist at the end I couldn't stop laughing thinking about that.
How could they be so irresponsible or incompetent? They've got this GIANT super advanced ship and they some how dropped the "rock" on a random planet in the middle of nowhere?
Lol, awesome writing. Why didn't the aliens just abduct the main character when they knew he had the rock? They were able to randomly suck people into the sky during the whole movie.
They could have done that two minutes after he picked the rock up. The main character is an idiot. Considering what he'd seen by the time he figures out what they want you'd think he'd set the rock down in front of the alien and beg for his life.
As far as he knows they have no reason not to kill him and just take the stupid thing. Instead he wants to make a trade.
Even though they can't communicate. It was mind blowing how long it took for anyone to figure out that they wanted the rock. If I ever find an mysterious rock that I watched fall from space, pick it up, and start getting chased by aliens I hope I can put two and two together much faster then they did.
Indescribably stupid, despite what the positive reviews say! Don't waste your time. First, the "people who just happen to record every detail of their lives" so that we can have a movie is a dead horse that's been decaying for years and repeatedly beaten into the ground.
And this movie takes it further into stupidity with a perpetually-recording replacement eye! No part of this premise even gets going.
If you make the mistake of watching, you'll understand HOW badly done this whole idea really is. I should have stopped there, at the beginning, because the eye thing is a portent of even more ridiculousness to come.
Next, the "remote cabin" is supposedly so remote that the group almost runs out of gas getting there, after they've been driving forever on this narrow back road in dense woods.
But after arriving, the view from the balcony clearly shows roads, other houses, and even a golf course within a stone's throw.
And later in the movie, while running through the woods, very quickly the group encounters a huge corn field so that the crop circle meme can be played out, for what reason, we'll never know.
So, the "remote cabin" is really a pretty decked out mansion, and it is really nestled into quite a community. But, of course, there's no reception, etc.
NO part of the "too remote to get help" premise even gets going. Then, the movie continually assaults your capacity to suspend disbelief with perpetual errors of judgment and insane stupidity that not even really scared people fall into.
But that's not the worst of the assaults on your sanity. I'll give just one of literally countless!
In one scene the protagonist blows up balloons and ties them to branches to act like breadcrumbs, and the balloons FLOAT. So, human breath is apparently filled with helium.
These helium-filled balloons are then repeatedly revisited for such purposes as floating a cell phone up out of the corn field to see the crop circles, "the symbol," that remains entirely unexplained and pointless.
So, human breath apparently has enough helium in it to float a few balloons with enough anti-gravity force to lift a cell phone. Where did that come from?
It almost goes without saying that the acting is really bad. You cannot like these people! It's mind-numbing, and the stupefied expressions and brain-damaged questions do NOT contribute to a sense of shock and awe; they instead pierce the veil that's supposed to engulf us and draw us in.
Instead, you find yourself thinking, "That's some really bad acting. I guess, "Where did Joe go?
A drinking game based on the next inane, gaping question? I don't know. I started by saying "indescribably stupid," yet it seems that I've been trying to describe it after all.
Trust me: I stand by "indescribably. I only finished the whole thing so that I could write a review of how totally bad it is, and I can tell you that nothing redeems this pile of garbage from beginning to end.
Save yourself! You can only destroy synapses by watching this garbage. No good can come of it. You'll be stupider after watching it.
I know that I am, and those were brain cells and minutes that I can never get back. You've been warned. All the stupid things they do is typical horror movie idiocy.

How every electronic thing was impacted by the creature yet eye guy never had any issues recording. Eye guy apparently had a built in microphone too to record sound.
Yet the viewpoint of the eye camera was always centered close one eye -that should be your view , no blinks, no closed eyes, no rapid head movements looking back and forth qiuckly That's why the 1 star.

They are thrilled when they arrive to find a fantastic property and begin to enjoy its many advantages. But when what seems to be a meteor crashes close by, things take a drastic turn as it seems Gracefield is the place that aliens have chosen to land.
Normally I'm very wary of these types of film as they can be very low budget affairs which turn out to be extremely disappointing. But this film has some surprisingly good moments - it starts out particularly well and although it does slow down in the centre third and turns into a typical run-around-and-scream movie for quite a bit of the run time, it's still highly entertaining, particularly for those people that enjoy this type of film like me.
The film has a reasonable number of special effects - pleasingly many of the early effects are practical which provide a greater feeling of reality, and the filmmakers were smart enough not to reveal too much of the aliens until close to the end when they change tack and show a digital creature.
This approach worked particularly well. The ending is a bit cheesy but at least closure is provided rather than leaving the audience up in the air.
The Blu-ray presentation is great with lots of bright colours in the daytime shots and good clarity.

Endlich viele Aliens und keine Abductionen die im Raumschiff wieder mal in extraterrestrischen Schleim enden. Die Story ist vorgegeben aber neu und erfrischend umgesetzt.
